The Truth About Money
My name is Lyndon, and I’m not your typical financial advisor. I believe in telling people the truth about their money.
Now you might be thinking, “What do you mean? What’s the truth about money?” Well, first of all, let me tell you what it’s not. It’s not about whether one best financial product is better than another or if this portfolio is better than that portfolio. It’s not even about whether your investments are beating their index. No, that’s not it at all.
The truth is, life is not a rehearsal. And precious time is slipping away. It’s sort of like sand going through an hourglass. At first, as you're watching it, it looks like it’s going to take forever for all that sand to go through. When it gets toward the end, it seems like it’s starting to speed up, and then all of a sudden it’s gone. And that’s the way life is, too.
That’s why the truth about money revolves around the fact that life is not a rehearsal. The way I approach this financial truth is by wearing three hats with my clients. The first hat that I wear is that of a life planner. As a life planner, my job is to find out more about where you are today, how you got to where you are, and where you want to go in the future. Where do you want to be in five years, ten years, fifteen, twenty?
Life’s not a rehearsal, and precious time is slipping away. Once I understand your life plan, then I take off my life planner hat and put on my financial planner hat. And my job as a financial planner is to identify all available resources, all resources that will become available sometime in the future, and, maybe more importantly, all the resources that need to be made available in order to fulfill your life plan.
Once we’ve finished and agreed on your financial plan, I can take off my financial planner hat and I put on my financial advisor hat. And as a financial advisor and an investment advisor representative, I can manage your investments for you to meet the requirements of your purpose and your plan. I can also help you identify other products that may be necessary to meet the requirements of your life plan and your financial plan.
There’s no charge at all for our first meeting. The purpose of that meeting is for me to get to know you a little better and find out a little more about where you are and how you got where you are.
